Duplex 2205 Stainless Steel

2205 a duplex grade with a ferritic-austenitic microstructure, nearly 50% ferritic and 50% austenitic, containing contain larger amounts of chromium (22%), 5% nickel, 3.2% molybdenum and other alloying elements such as nitrogen and manganese, the high chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen contents provide good corrosion resistance, it is superior to 316/316L and 317L.

2205 Stainless Steel Features

• High resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in chloride-bearing environments
• High resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in environments containing hydrogen sulphide
• High resistance to general corrosion, pitting corrosion, and crevice corrosion
• High resistance to erosion corrosion and corrosion fatigue
• High strength - roughly twice the yield strength of Austenitic stainless steel

Duplex 2205 stainless steel heat treatment temperature range is 1020 to 1100°C, it have good performance in fabricating, bending, expanding to form pipes and tubes after cold worked, duplex stainless steel pipe produced as specification ASTM A789 and A790, outside diameter range from NPS 1/8 inch to NPS 24 inch, wall thickness range from Sch5 to Sch160.
